FieraMesse is going green! Apart from the numerous events on the topic like Klimahouse, Klimahouse Toscana, Klimahouse Lombardia and Klimamobility, Fiera Bolzano has also invested large sums into making it's own daily business more sustainable.
The first thing that will have to be mentioned at this point is the photovoltaic system on the roofs of the grounds car parks: The four photovoltaic systems installed at Fiera Bolzano produce the considerable amount of 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which theoretically already cover the entire needs of the fairground, saving the city of Bolzano 600 tons of CO2 emissions every year.
Even the company car of Fiera Bolzano is now driving only electrically. Other milestones: the collaboration with Volontarius since 2017, an association that distributes unsold food to those who need it in the catering outlets of the exhibition center. The catering establishments on the fairgrounds also support the principle of sustainability and 100% of them use reusable tableware.
"We are already one of the leading trade show centers in Italy in terms of sustainability," says Thomas Mur, CEO of Fiera Bolzano. "However, we are constantly working on further development. We are convinced that focusing on sustainability in all its nuances, rather than slowing down or demoralizing, generates innovation and development".
