The team at the Bolzano/Bozen Exhibition Center is particularly service-oriented, offering a swift, reliable, and individual response to the needs and wishes of its clients. Exhibitors at the Bolzano/Bozen Exhibition Center appreciate the attractive cost-benefit relationship when participating in a tradeshow. That is confirmed by the large numbers of repeat exhibitors. The Bolzano/Bozen Exhibition Center provides comprehensive service support for its clients in their tradeshow activities. Targeted advertising and intensive work both with the press and in the social media ensure that the tradeshow is kept constantly in the limelight of a broad-reaching public.
Competence
The tradeshows and conferences are concentrated on topics relating to the economies of Alpine countries. There is thus a great focus on tradeshow subjects within the economic competence of South Tyrol and Trentino. The main focuses of dining and leisure time, sports, agriculture, and specific Alpine industries attract an annual total of over 3,200 exhibitors and some 230,000 visitors from all over Europe.
Economic Structure
The region of Trentino-South Tyrol is home to a total of 60,000 industrial and commercial companies, handicraft operations, service providers, and hotel and dining structures. In Bolzano’s immediate area of penetration in the area of the Alps and Northern Italy, that figure grows to around 200,000.
We are a company administered according to the management criteria of a private company, but keeping in mind the objectives of our main shareholders, namely the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Region of Trentino-Alto Adige, the Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Bolzano. Therefore, we consider ourselves to be a publicly owned company, therefore not inspired by mere profit motives but aware that we are an integral part of the economic infrastructure of our territory and that we must promote it.
For several decades we have been an essential meeting point and interlocutor for South Tyrolean companies and we strive to make an active contribution to the development of new areas of expertise for the productive fabric of the territory. We are very sensitive to new trends and the markets that may arise from them. This is proof that our trade fairs and congresses are at the cutting edge of our local economy, which we help to grow. Two examples for everyone: apple growing or sustainable construction.
As Fiera Bolzano, we are the heirs of a tradition of exchanging goods and ideas in the Alps that is centuries, if not millennia old. Today we give continuity to this tradition in the bilingual and bicultural context of South Tyrol, straddling German-speaking and Italian economic and production areas, creating concrete opportunities to spread knowledge and professionalism between northern and southern Europe. In the trade fairs that we organize outside the province - in central and southern Italy as well as in China - we become ambassadors of South Tyrol, communicating our skills of excellence to the outside world.
Bolzano has an ancient trade fair tradition: the first evidence of trade with regions in the Alps, not only Italian but also foreign, dates back to 1070. The city's geographical position and its indisputable role as a bridge between northern and southern Europe have always favoured commercial, economic and cultural relations with neighbouring countries. The first modern fair - the Campionaria - took place in 1948.
In the 1970s, thanks to the favourable economic situation, a phase of development began for the Bolzano/Bozen Exhibition Centre. Encouraged also by the various economic categories of the Province, the administrators of the Fair Authority decided to expand the programme of trade fairs, giving rise to a series of specialized exhibitions. The "Agricultural Fair", the "Bolzano Hotel", the "Leisure Time" and the "Ufficio-Büro" were born. In 1983 followed "Mitea" - which in 1991 became "Bauschau", a trade fair for construction, earthmoving, insulation, thermology -, in 1984 "Lignomec", a trade fair for woodworking machinery and products, was added, as well as the "Art and Antiques Exhibition".
Over time, trade fairs were organized in the most important economic sectors of South Tyrol, in order to meet supply and demand as well as to exchange and disseminate the know-how acquired: mountain technology and winter sports ("Alpitec" in 1997, "Prowinter" in 2001 and "Alpitec China" in 2009), agriculture and apple growing ("Agrialp" in 1971 and "Interpoma" in 1998, "Agridirect" in 2016), tourism, hospitality and food ("Hotel" in 1977, "Autochtona" in 2004 and "Biolife" in 2005).
Since the two thousand years a series of fairs "Klima" dedicated to the theme of sustainability and energy efficiency: "Klimahouse" in 2006 with the itinerant editions in Northern Italy ("Klimahouse Lombardia" in 2015) and Central Italy ("Klimahouse Toscana" in 2014), as well as "Klimamobility" in 2013.
An important presence in the calendar is certainly represented by the various public fairs: in addition to the historic "Free Time" (1983), "Furniture" (1992), "Civil Protect" (2007) and "Kreativ" (2014).
Since 1 January 2003, Fiera Bolzano has been a joint-stock company and has thus adapted to European regulations which for some time now have required Italy to revise various state and regional regulations relating to trade fair bodies. The main shareholders are the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (88.44%), the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano (4.79%), the Municipality of Bolzano (4.63%) as well as smaller shares in Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, Banca Popolare dell'Alto Adige, Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A, Brigl and Unione Agricoltori e Coltivatori diretti Alto Adige.
