For a better future
Sustainable mobility becomes a reality at Fiera Bolzano. Starting from Klimahouse 2020, the online ticket will also be valid for public transport to and from the exhibition centre. With a single ticket, visitors will be able to access the trade show and travel free of charge on buses, trains and cable cars, thus making a concrete contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions and traffic volume. Fiera Bolzano is also well connectedt: from the main railway station, for example, it takes only 5 minutes to get to Bolzano Sud/FieraMesse.
Every year Fiera Bolzano welcomes around 250,000 visitors, mostly from South Tyrol. About one out of every four South Tyroleans visits a trade show at least once a year and often arrives there by car. In order to encourage and facilitate the use of public transport, a practical and simple solution has been found in collaboration with the Department of Mobility and STA - Strutture Trasporto Alto Adige S.p.A. (South Tyrolean Transport Facilities).
Starting from Klimahouse 2020 all online tickets will be marked with an "M" (public mobility) and with the wording "free public transport ticket" and will allow you to travel free of charge, on the day of your visit, on public transport throughout South Tyrol. Excluded from the project are the cable cars of Colle, Verano, Vilpiano-Meltina and Maranza. Holders of the nominal ticket generated online are obliged, if necessary, to show the ticket in digital or printed form and the identity document to the control staff.
"As Fiera Bolzano we are constantly striving to make the visitor's experience as positive as possible. Of course this also includes the journey visitors make to our events," explains Armin Hilpold, President of Fiera Bolzano. "One of the objectives of our strategic plan is to become the most sustainable trade fair in Italy. In this regard, contributing to sustainable mobility is an important step, as well as a prelude to further action in the future, in order to achieve our goal."
The expansion of local public transport services is one of the objectives stated by the Provincial Councillor for Mobility Daniel Alfreider: "We want to do everything possible to ensure that the car is no longer the first choice and that citizens increasingly choose to travel by bus and train. The combination of trade fair and public transport is a further step in this direction". The Councillor also believes that this solution is simple and convenient for visitors, as well as useful for avoiding traffic jams. According to Joachim Dejaco, the director of STA, this initiative promoted in cooperation with Fiera Bolzano and the Passenger Transport Authority, proposes a solution that is absolutely accessible to the user by delegating the issue of invoicing to an internal administrative procedure. In addition, this combined ticket is a further step towards enhancing public mobility at major events, states Dejaco.
