Dr. Jens Karl Wegener is Director and Professor at the
Julius-Kühn-Institut (JKI), Germany, where he heads the Institute for
Application Technology in Plant Protection. His work focuses on plant
protection application technology, precision spraying, spray drift assessment,
regulatory evaluation, and the development and testing of innovative
application systems, including drone-based spraying technologies.
He is actively involved in national and European
harmonisation processes related to plant protection equipment and authorization
frameworks and serves as President of ENTAM 2.0, the European Network for
Testing of Agricultural Machines. His work connects applied research,
regulatory implementation, and international cooperation with the aim of
improving efficiency, safety, and environmental performance in crop protection.
