Andreas Gfrerer
Owner, director, and impresario of the ArtHotel Blaue Gans in Salzburg
His hotel is located in the heart of Mozart’s city, yet far from any clichés. Here, centuries-old tradition meets contemporary art. He has curated over 300 modern artworks within the hotel and is actively involved in various cultural initiatives across the city.
His aspiration? That guests leave the hotel with a sense of inner enrichment — that feeling you get when you think, “This speaks to me.” He aptly calls this feeling “goosebumps.” Goosebumps help uncover personal stories. Stories always speak of transformation — of people discovering themselves in ways they never expected.
“I’ve never understood why that should only apply to hotel guests,” says Gfrerer. “I wanted our staff to be able to explore their own potential, try things out, and feel genuinely part of our shared venture. All of that becomes possible when we meet one another as equals and dismantle rigid hierarchies.”
