L'ENEA è l'Agenzia nazionale per le nuove tecnologie, l'energia e lo sviluppo economico sostenibile, tra le maggiori istituzioni di ricerca pubblica in Italia, con circa 2500 fra ricercatori, tecnologi e personale di supporto, 17 uffici territoriali su gran parte del territorio nazionale e 1 a Bruxelles, 13 centri di ricerca dotati di impianti sperimentali, grandi laboratori e strumentazioni avanzate per studi, prove, valutazioni, analisi, progetti e servizi per lo sviluppo e la competitività del Sistema Paese. E’ suddivisa in 4 dipartimenti: il Dipartimento Tecnologie Energetiche e Fonti Rinnovabili, Fusione e Sicurezza Nucleare, Unità Efficienza Energetica e Sostenibilità dei Sistemi Produttivi e Territoriali, oltre all’Unità Antartide e alla Direzione innovazione e sviluppo per il trasferimento tecnologico. Le principali tematiche di ricerca sono: energia e fonti rinnovabili, comunità energetiche, smart cities, smart grid, mobilità sostenibile, efficienza energetica, economia circolare, sicurezza alimentare, biotecnologie e agroindustria, materie prime critiche, sicurezza sismica, scienze della vita, nuovi materiali, cambiamento climatico, protezione del capitale naturale. ENEA is the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, among the largest public research institutions in Italy, with about 2,500 researchers, technologists and support staff, 17 territorial offices over most of the national territory and 1 in Brussels, 13 research centers equipped with experimental facilities, large laboratories and advanced instrumentation for studies, tests, evaluations, analyses, projects and services for the development and competitiveness of the Country System. It is divided into 4 departments: the Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources, Fusion and Nuclear Safety, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability of Production and Territorial Systems Unit, as well as the Antarctica Unit and the Innovation and Development Directorate for Technology Transfer. The main research themes are: energy and renewable sources, energy communities, smart cities, smart grid, sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, circular economy, food security, biotechnology and agroindustry, critical raw materials, seismic safety, life sciences, new materials, climate change, and natural capital protection. Die ENEA ist die nationale Agentur für neue Technologien, Energie und nachhaltige wirtschaftliche Entwicklung und gehört zu den größten öffentlichen Forschungseinrichtungen Italiens mit rund 2500 Forschern, Technikern und Hilfspersonal, 17 Regionalbüros, die einen Großteil des Staatsgebiets abdecken, und einem Büro in Brüssel. 13 Forschungszentren mit Versuchsanlagen, großen Labors und modernsten Instrumenten für Studien, Tests, Bewertungen, Analysen, Projekte und Dienstleistungen zur Förderung der Entwicklung und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Landes. Es ist in vier Abteilungen unterteilt: die Abteilung für Energietechnologien und erneuerbare Energiequellen, Fusion und nukleare Sicherheit, die Abteilung für Energieeffizienz und Nachhaltigkeit von Produktions- und Territorialsystemen sowie die Abteilung Antarktis und die Direktion für Innovation und Entwicklung für den Technologietransfer. Die wichtigsten Forschungsthemen sind: Energie und erneuerbare Energiequellen, Energiegemeinschaften, Smart Cities, Smart Grids, nachhaltige Mobilität, Energieeffizienz, Kreislaufwirtschaft, Lebensmittelsicherheit, Biotechnologie und Agrarindustrie, kritische Rohstoffe, Erdbebensicherheit, Biowissenschaften, neue Materialien, Klimawandel und Schutz des Naturkapitals.
