Walter Guerra, world-renowned pomologist and head of the Institute of Fruit and Viticulture at the Laimburg Experimental Centre (South Tyrol), is going to open the second day of the Interpoma Congress 2020, dedicated to rootstock breeding. Apart from extensive research regarding the question of apple varieties, the next decade is also going to bring significant improvements regarding the rootstocks.
At the Interpoma Congress on November 20th, 3 of the most promising active rootstock breeding programs are going to present their objectives, strategies. Guerra, chairman of this second congress day, is going to present his paper entitled "M9 forever? New rootstocks challenge the dominance of M9", giving a general introduction to the status quo of global rootstock situation.
