VIATEC 2011
Satisfactory conclusion for “Baumec/Viatec 2011”

Bolzano Fairs and most of the exhibitors look back happily to the last week-end, that offered to the construction industry and the 183 exhibitors a display where 9200 visitors could gather information on work security in constructions, construction machines, all purpose transporters, road constructions, traffic engineering and much more.

“It results from the surveys that Viatec lost visitors, as apprehended, based on the former bank holiday on Thursday march 16th, where as Baumec registered the same visitors traffic count as two years ago”, according to the fair manager Reinhold Marsoner, whom is still satisfied with the outcome, given the effect of the crisis on the construction industry. As by a random survey on 567 visitors, 27.9 % rate the economy of the sector as “declining”, just about half of the respondents (49.6 %) rate it as “stable” and 17.3 % as “growing”; 5.2 % did not answer this question.

Roughly 30% of the visitors came from other regions: the constructions fair combo attracted visitors from all over Italy and abroad and cut them off discreetly; the offer of both fairs was appraised as follows: for 54, 1 % the general impression was “good”, for 11.6 % “very good”, for 27, 3 % “satisfactorily” and for 5.8 % “unsatisfactorily”; 10, 8% of the visitors declared to have placed orders (transacted) during the fair.

There were 183 local and foreign exhibitors that found during the four days at the Bolzano fair a display of the construction industry and who took contact with the sector.

“We exhibit at Baumec/Viatec since we believe in the fair as a marketing instrument and we use this platform to introduce our product to the South Tyrolean market, where we would like to reach a higher degree of brand awareness. The number of the established contacts was the same as two years ago and I believe this will lead to developing good business relationships”, as by Marco Fais, sales manager of Faresin Buliding Division AG

The owner of company Kommland was also very satisfied with the course of the fair: “We meet new customers on the fair and can show our complete product range. We expect a good post fair business development from the contacts we have established”, emphasized Josef Reiterer.

The South – Tyrolean business woman Maria Niederstätter thinks positively, in spite of the ever so often quoted crisis in the construction industry: “We exhibit at the trade fairs in Bolzano since 1975 in order to constantly extend the network of our business contacts and to show our novelties. Trade fairs are an ideal platform, in order to take contact with 2000 representatives of the sector in four days. The construction industry is in crisis but we work hard on overcoming it by insisting on direct contact with the customers, on development and mostly on quality, and the customers are happy.”

The double fair was accompanied during the first two days by the international symposium “ BrennerCongress 2011”, with top class speakers such as Pat Cox – EU appointee for the Brenner Basistunnel; Ing. Konrad Bergmeister – from the BBT Company; Dr. Paolo Montagner – manager of the Road Patrol Department of the Autonomous Bolzano Province, and Ing. Carlo Costa – Technical manager of the Brenner Highways A22.

Saturday stood under the sign of work security: a congress organized with industry partners approached organizational and management models for work protection with the constructions field and implementation of the work protection models in companies. On the other hand, on Friday, within the frame of the double trade fair, the yearly assembly of the Council of the Construction Entrepreneurs in the region of Bolzano took place, where the chances and possibilities of reaching profit while the crisis in the field of constructions was discussed.

Baumec/Viatec 2011 at Bolzano/ South Tyrol

“Viatec” will once again take place in Bolzano, Italy this year, offering a valuable platform for those in the road construction and infrastructural rationing fields in the alpine regions to show their services to visitors in the industry.

The trade fair, which is now in its 7th year, to date remains the only trade show to cater for this particular group. Consequently, “Viatec” holds an air of exclusivity which is widely recognised and taken advantage of by companies and individuals, many of whom come to the show as vendors each year, exhibiting to thousands of visitors across three days.

As indeed, in 2009 “Viatec” will be again, combined with the “Baumec” trade show and figures from that year showed that 11,200 individuals came to the exhibition as visitors, with a figure of 4,100 attendees visiting to experience the “Viatec” show alone.

This year’s show is due to take place between the 17th and 20th March 2011, with a focus in particular upon the topics of construction and road reconditioning and maintenance at high altitude or in other areas presenting geographic difficulties.

During these few days, Bolzano will also host the 4th edition of the Brenner Congress, a two-day event held 17-18th March which will feature a range of experts from organisations from around the globe. The congress will provide the opportunity for visitors to experience reports on a variety of current topics important to the industry, as well as have the chance to undergo guided tours of A22 tollway and Brenner Base Tunnel worksites.

During the course of two conference days, international experts will report on the construction, operation, and maintenance of rails and roads.  The subject starting things off will be the Brenner Base Tunnel, followed by other base tunnel projects in the Alps.  These will include the new Turin-Lyons route, the progress with the construction of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the railway extension of the new Lower Inn Valley route, and experiences with the operation of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel.  Another thematic topic will be road tunnels, dealing with an improvement in quality of life by means of qualitative road construction.
The second day of the conference will be dedicated to the maintenance of roads and highways, with presentations on road bridges, roadway coverings in tunnel construction, and safety in the tunnel.  The topic of infrastructure design will also be presented from the point of view of traffic psychologists.  To conclude, the focus will be on product recycling for the construction of infrastructures and the durability of the bitumen.

TrafficInfraTech 2012
TrafficInfraTech 2012 in Mumbai

Following the success of the premiere occurrence in New Delhi in February of this year, Virtual Info Systems Pvt Ltd, Afidamp Servizi s.r.l of Milan, and the Fiera Bolzano S.p.A./Messe Bozen AG will be organizing the second edition  of “TrafficInfraTech”, the Tradeshow for Road Construction and Infrastructure Management at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, India, which will run from 17 to 19 May, 2012.

Bolzano, Italy, June 2011 – The region of Trentino-Alto Adige has always been a nerve centre of trade because of its strategic location on the north-south transit axis.  In order to maintain and guarantee this north-south connection, the road network was already built 150 years ago, while the construction of the Brenner Motorway dates back to 1972.  This area of the Alps is now the site of one of the largest traffic infrastructure projects being built in all of Europe: the Brenner Base Tunnel.  “The Brenner Axis TEN-T PP 1 from Berlin via Munich, Verona, and Rome to Palermo is one of Europe’s most ambitious projects, and without a doubt, it is the largest investment associated with a traffic project that Europe has ever made,” said the EU coordinator of the PP 1 axis within the framework of “Viatec”, the International Tradeshow for Road Construction and Infrastructure Management in Bolzano.
Bolzano is the provincial capital of Alto Adige/South Tyrol, and thanks to a high degree of cooperation at the international level between universities and research centres, work is carried out in the area of road construction and infrastructure at an extremely high level. And the know-how which is attained in this way can be exported throughout the world.  “India is a country with a very high population density and outstanding scientists and researchers,” says Konrad Bergmeister, member of the board of directors of the Brenner Basistunnel SE, and he adds, “That which we are able to impart to this country is a culture of sustainable construction with all of the aspects of the maintenance and monitoring of the infrastructures so that they are long lasting.”

The goal of “TrafficInfraTech” is to provide a gathering for international experts in the sector as well as to bring together supply and demand in a concentrated form.  With a current population of 1.2 billion, it is expected that by the middle of the century, not only will India be the most populous nation on earth, but its gross domestic product will rank third in the world, behind those of China and the USA.  The sheer size of the Indian national economy, the demographics, and the continuously high rate of growth will make the subcontinent into the most important market on the globe after China.  But in contrast to China, development in India is already being driven forward today by domestic demand.*
“With more than sixty exhibitors and over two thousand visitors, TrafficInfraTech gave a great first performance,” emphasizes Reinhold Marsoner, director of the Bolzano/Bozen Exhibition Centre.  “Thanks to our Indian and Italian partners, we are able to create an information platform in India for road construction and infrastructure management at a European standard.”
